Two Sleeves

Unease with Excess

The combination of a cosmetic box plus a sleeve has long been adopted by SYRINX. It's a common, everyday sight. However, I've always felt a sense of unease about it.

The bulkier a cosmetic box is, and the more elements it has, the greater the burden on storage space and cost.

Above all, to compensate for functions that a cosmetic box alone lacks, other components such as OPP bags, non-woven fabric, and sleeves become necessary.

This direction differs from the minimalism that SYRINX strives for.

"Is there not a more SYRINX-like solution?"

I have finally found an answer to this unease.

Denial of Being a Box

Tracing back through numerous feelings of unease, I arrived at a single question:

"Does it need to be a box?"

From there, a new way of thinking about packpatina began.

If one remains within conventional thinking, that question itself would not arise.

However, SYRINX's philosophy is "the shape of thought." It's about thoroughly re-examining what seems obvious.

That's how numerous new designs have been created.

Two Unstable Pieces

What sparked from this question was the idea of combining two sleeves.

Individually, each is an incomplete form that can easily deform.

However, when the contents fit perfectly into the inner box, and the inner box restrains the deformation of the outer box, the shape becomes stable.

Two individually unstable pieces become stable when combined. It's a structure where limited elements support each other to achieve functionality.

In a normal box, the box itself is primary. The contents exist as something to be protected.

This new box is different. The contents also function as a structure that enables the box to exist.

And the act of opening and closing itself offers a slightly different experience than traditional boxes.

This idea also connects to the "inner hook" that utilizes the card itself as a fastener.

When the Question Changes, the Form Changes

"Re-examining even the definition of a box."

If we start from there, the answer changes.

Carefully re-examining what is taken for granted and engpatina in logical thought.

Believing that even for a single box, there is a form that can only be seen after much thought.
