The thought that resides in 10mm. The structural beauty of Hitoe® L-zip L
What is a "thin wallet"?
At SYRINX, we see thinness as a result, not a goal.
The thinness is born from the intersection of structural rationality, ease of use, and beauty.
One answer to this question is the 10mm thickness of the bottom of the Hitoe® L-zip L.
It's not just a design to make it look thin.
This is the most rational value structurally and is the necessary value that maintains a beautiful balance.
Redefining "thin wallet"
It's easy to just make your wallet thinner.
By using thin leather and reducing the number of cards that can be stored, you can create a wallet that appears to be "thin."
However, what we aim for is not just thinness, but thinness that is also practical.
If you carry six or fewer cards, a bifold wallet such as the Hitoe® Fold is more portable and convenient than a long wallet.
Therefore, Hitoe® L-zip L is designed to hold 7 or more cards.
At that time, we derived the most beautiful and rational dimensions from the structure.
The logic of 10mm derived from the structure
Hitoe® L-zip L has a "double card pocket" structure with two card pockets.
When storing 7 cards, a maximum of 4 cards can be stored on each side.
If you add up the thickness at that time,
- 4 cards: 0.76 mm x 4 = 3.04 mm
- Total leather overlap (exterior and interior): 5.8 mm
- 10 bills or receipts: 0.10 mm x 10 = 1.00 mm
Total: 3.04 + 5.8 + 1.0 = 9.84 mm ≒ 10 mm.
In other words, the maximum thickness when storing 7 to 8 cards is approximately 10 mm.
This dimension remains balanced even when storage volume changes.
If you add more cards, bills won't reach the bottom. Also, there are no internal parts at the bottom, just the exterior.
There are 8 cards on each side, which is about 6mm thick, and together with the exterior it is about 10mm thick.
This means you can fit up to 16 cards while still maintaining a 10mm bottom.
(*For non-embossed cards)
The balance point of 10mm
It can hold up to 8 cards, with a maximum of 10mm of storage, and maintains a beautiful silhouette even with the maximum number of cards (16).
10mm is the balance point where structural necessity and aesthetic beauty intersect.
Each dimension is imbued with thought, not feeling.
The number 10mm symbolizes the "shape of thought" that SYRINX pursues.
